About shane flowers:
Shane Flowers is a World’s Strongest Man competitor and former international powerlifter hailing from Dorset, UK. In his early years, he explored a variety of sports — including football (soccer), rugby, athletics, and martial arts — before beginning his weight-training journey at the age of 15.
Shane quickly developed a lifelong passion for lifting weights, which became his primary focus both competitively and academically. After leaving school, he attended Weymouth College, where he earned diplomas in Sport & Exercise Science and Personal Training, before going on to complete a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Healthcare Sciences (Sports Laboratory) at the University of Plymouth, graduating in 2016.
By this point, Shane's rise in competitive strength sports was already underway. He competed in powerlifting under the UK affiliate of the IPF, eventually representing England at the 2017 Commonwealth Championships in South Africa. His final powerlifting appearance came in early 2019, where he was crowned King of the Deadlift at the GPC Tattooed & Strong Expo.
Shane turned his attention to strongman during the pandemic. With gyms shut nationwide, he began investing in basic strongman equipment simply to keep training during lockdown — with no serious ambition to “make it” in the sport. When the world reopened in late 2021, he casually entered an online qualifier for England’s Strongest Man — a title he went on to win at his first attempt.
That win catapulted him into the professional strongman scene, earning him an invitation to compete at his first Giants Live event, among the strongest men in Britain. Within just eight months, Shane made his World’s Strongest Man debut in 2022, held in Sacramento, California. Although he was still new to the sport and learning on the job at the highest level, the knowledge he had gained from years of academic study and athletic experience — alongside the guidance of his coaching team — ensured his strongman career didn’t become just a flash in the pan.
Now, with more experience under his belt, Shane is regarded as one of the strongest men in Great Britain and a regular fixture at Giants Live, World’s Strongest Man, and other major international strongman competitions.

COACHING BACKGROUND:
Shane combines applied academic knowledge with real-world experience to guide his clients through every step of their strength journey. It's often debated whether a great coach needs first-hand experience in sport — with Shane, you get both.
Over the past decade, he has worked with a wide range of clients across all ages and abilities. He began with 1-2-1 personal training in a local gym in Weymouth before moving deeper into the strength scene. In 2017, Shane founded Jurassic Barbell — a Weymouth-based strength club created to educate and empower its members on their path to becoming stronger. It quickly became a hub for talent and elite-level athletes, and is widely considered one of the reasons Weymouth now produces a disproportionately high number of world-class lifters — including several of Shane’s former clients who have gone on to break all-time world records and compete internationally in both powerlifting and strongman.
Today, Shane works exclusively online, offering 1-2-1 coaching. His clients benefit from direct daily contact and completely personalised programming, built on proven training methodologies that deliver results. There’s no one-size-fits-all — just focused, effective coaching designed around each individual.
